La separadora gravimétrica es un equipo destinado a remover las impurezas livianas del maní en grano.

Como impurezas podemos incluir a los cascabullos (caja de maní con un solo grano en su interior), cáscara suelta, palos pequeños, granos dañados con menor peso específico que el sano, etc..

Para realizar esta separación, se alimenta el maní en grano con impurezas sobre el plano de chapa zaranda plegado en diente de sierra, el cual está sometido a un movimiento vibratorio y a una corriente de aire ascendente que atraviesa al mismo.

De esta manera se forma un lecho fluido donde la mercadería liviana (impurezas) se ubica en la parte superior del lecho y, aprovechando la inclinación del plano en cuestión, es arrastrada hacia la parte inferior.

Los cuerpos pesados, al no ser levantados por el aire, son transportados hacia la parte superior valiéndose del plegado apropiado de la chapa zaranda y del movimiento vibratorio. De esta forma se logra separar lo liviano de lo pesado, concretándose el objetivo de este equipo.
